    Salary after tax in Sweden

To estimate salary after tax in Sweden, enter your birth year, municipality, monthly gross salary and relevant memberships in the Swedish Tax Agency's 2026 calculator. Two people with the same gross salary can receive different net amounts, so subtracting one standard percentage is only a rough guess.

    What to check

    • Enter your year of birth.
    • Choose the municipality where you were registered on 1 November of the previous year.
    • Select salary as the income type and enter monthly gross pay.
    • Include Church of Sweden or other registered religious-community membership when relevant.
    • Treat the result as a tax-withholding estimate, not a promise of final annual tax.

Why two people with the same salary can receive different amounts

Municipal and regional tax rates differ, and the tax-table column changes with income type and age. Membership fees for registered religious communities can also affect the deduction. This is why a generic percentage is less reliable than the official calculator.

What to compare in a job offer

    • Gross monthly salary and guaranteed variable pay
    • Pension and insurance terms
    • Overtime or compensation for inconvenient hours
    • Working hours, paid leave and any collective agreement

Use salary data and tax data for different questions

SCB salary statistics help you compare an offer with an occupation group. Skatteverket's calculator helps estimate tax deduction for your own situation. Do not treat an occupation median as your expected offer or subtract one universal tax rate from it.

    Common questions

Can I calculate Swedish net salary with one percentage?

Not accurately. The relevant municipality, age, income type and other details can change the deduction.

Is tax the only difference between gross pay and the value of an offer?
